'mean' 在英式英语 = 1。吝啬 2。不友善。但在美语只 = 2。不友善。
so when you say "you're very mean" in British English you either mean 1.You're not willing to share things or 2.You're (being) unkind or unfair.But in American English it can only mean 2.
If 贱 is used to mean 行为下流、卑鄙，the English equivalent can be 'mean', but other words like 'cheap' and 'despicable'are more precise.
P.S. On the other hand, 'mean' can also mean excellent, very good or marvellous in informal context, e.g. a mean lunch, a mean cook. So be careful the next time you use 'mean' and mean what you say !
