你们会为了孩子申请公民吗？

一直以来没想过申请公民，因为退休还是想回到中国，毕竟那里有很多亲朋好友，而且还有养老金和医疗保险。
现在女儿要上中学了，突然想到这个问题，也许该放到日程上了？
虽然学费确实涨了，可是不是我们考虑的主要因素，否则当初就会为了组屋的补助申请公民了。
主要是考虑到中学很多比赛及出国机会，是否只有公民才有机会？

过来的家长，可否指点一二？多谢。

   同样地，我们在要不要带孩子入公民问题上也处于纠结矛盾中，希望在此听到各位朋友的高见！

是这样的，我孩子还小，我常说，我们是中国人如何如何，可是他其实并不理解，我们差不多半年回去一次，他也只把中国当一地名。国内的亲戚问他喜欢中国吗，他说喜欢，可是要他长久住下，他却不肯，小小年纪已经留恋新加坡了。
我朋友的孩子也有一样的情形。而且貌似越大对新加坡越有感情。

• 学费其实是一个应该考虑的因素。设想一下，如果您的孩子是公民，可以得到EESIS奖学金($2,400x6 = $14,400.00),Edusave Grant (大约$500x6 =$3,000.00)，以及别的Edusave Scheme和Award，等等。
• 更重要的考量应该是高中毕业后的政府和私人奖学金了。这可是一笔巨款，最高可以达到$2,000,000.00，但是绝大多数的奖学金只发给新加坡公民。我的几位朋友当初也是坚持不给孩子申请公民，到后来才发现那笔留学费用是一个“天文数字”，无奈之下只好放弃初衷，白白损失了几年的“benefits”。
• 至于中学比赛，非公民会失去很对机会是毋庸置疑的。
  

一位朋友和楼主的情况类似，家长孩子都是PR，孩子去年以27+的成绩考入南洋。后来他们决定为女儿单独申请公民，呈交申请后大约两个月就批了，移民局的官员对妈妈不一起申请公民一事也没有深究。可能是PSLE成绩和南洋的名头起了一定的作用吧。。。

从感情方面来说, 我认为孩子拿不拿公民不会直接影响他们对中国的感情和认同, 在这个问题上家长的态度和教育方式才是关键。我的儿子一出生就被“强加”了新加坡公民的身份，而且从小就在新加坡成长和接受教育，但这一点也没影响他对“祖国”的热爱。他非常讨厌有些不是公民的中国孩子到处吹嘘自己是新加坡人，他坚持认为自己是“中国人”，并且容不得任何污蔑中国的言行。他告诉我们，长大后他要去中国,，做一个像陈嘉庚，辜鸿铭，李登辉（前复旦大学校长，不是台湾的那个）似的人物。。。

当然，随着年龄的增长我的儿子可能会改变想法，但此时此刻我还是觉得很欣慰。

早就为了孩子这么做了，在她上幼儿园的时候，从没后悔过，呵呵

一句话，尽早申请，越早越好。我现在就后悔为什么没有早5年申请公民权。

爱国与否，爱哪个国家，跟自己拥有哪个国家的公民权并无直接关系。

说真的，我也觉得申请公民并不影响爱国情怀，而且孩子从小在这里长大，不爱新加坡也是不对的吧，哈哈！她以后长大肯定申请新加坡公民，待在哪里我都无所谓。
我主要觉得自己退休还是会回去中国，至少两地跑，那有绿卡就够了，还方便。
一个朋友申请了美国公民，现在为了回中国长待，不得不交钱挂在一个公司，可是年纪再大起来就不能这么挂了。愁得要命。
