In this case, we don't use superficial but Biased or Stereotypical, nationality says so much about a person, the background, the language, the culture~~you know~~so it is not superficial to judge people according to their nationality, in my opinions. totally cannot got used to it and never wanted to learn or speak it, but i won't against the ppl who speaks it...when i'm talking w/ my frd, i will speak eng. in the normal way and he speaks singlish...no conflicts...

In my humble opinion, having stereotype without any analysis is considered superficial, or shallow, or naive. Are you comfortable with the comments some Singaporeans may impose on you according to their perspective associated with the Chinese prostitutes in Singapore just because you are of the same nationality? Each society is made up of all kinds of people among which most are decent. In what way can you evaluate personal morality merely from nationality? Background, language and culture are likely to affect one’s character, but not necessary, not to mention morality. For example, dont you think that both the Muslim hatred of the West and the American hatred of that religion are caused by blind prejudice and lack of understanding? But must an Iraqi Muslim be radical? :) Likewise, is a Singaporean necessarily kiasu?I don't think nationality gives you much information about the personality of a person, which for example even in China varies from place to place. Besides, I don't advise you to be preoccupied with personal prejudice about other people before having known them to a certain extent.[em01]
